Price: 2-Day training (1490€)
Specially designed for: researchers, scientists, students, project managers which are willing to apply for Horizon Europe MSCA programme, as coordinators, or as partners, EU pre-award offices. Suitable for any levels of experience, as the training progressively moves from basic notions to most challenging aspects of the proposal preparation. Throughout the training many examples, recommendations and tips will be shared with the participants.
Grant: Horizon Europe – MSCA
Outcomes: maximise your chances of getting funded. Depending on your previous experience, at the end of the training you will be able:
- To understand the eligibility criteria and all the necessary requirements to submit a competitive MSCA proposal.
- Plan and lead a complete proposal writing process.
- To understand and emphasize on the key elements in “Excellence, Impact and Implementation” sections.
- To understand how a truly competitive proposal should look like.
- To gain a better understanding of the evaluation process.
The training fee includes presentations and certificates of participation. The training day starts at 9.00 and ends at 13.00 (Brussels time). 7 hours of training in total. There is a maximum number of 10 participants per training.

This training is specifically designed for researchers preparing applications for ERC Starting, Consolidator, Advanced and Synergy Grants.
Experience Level:This course is ideal for researchers with some prior experience in ERC applications who are looking to refine their proposal-writing skills. The training offers an in-depth exploration of the key challenges in ERC proposal writing with a strong focus on scientific excellence. Through practical insights and expert guidance, participants will gain the necessary tools to develop a strong, competitive application that stands out in the evaluation process
Expert Trainers:
Our training is delivered by senior experts with extensive experience in ERC grant writing and evaluations. Many of our trainers have served as ERC expert evaluators for the European Commission, providing invaluable insights into the review process and evaluation criteria. In addition to training, they actively assist researchers through proposal writing and review services at EFMC.

Key Outcomes: This training is structured around the critical aspects of ERC proposal writing, helping applicants understand what evaluators expect and how to craft a compelling, fundable proposal.
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Master the key elements of the ERC proposal – focusing on “Scientific Excellence”, including the Extended Synopsis, Curriculum Vitae, Track Record, and Scientific Proposal to effectively highlight the researcher’s qualifications and the project’s breakthrough potential.
- Develop a convincing scientific approach – providing a strong hypothesis, methodology, objectives, and feasibility analysis, while emphasizing the project’s high-risk/high-gain nature to demonstrate its potential for significant scientific advancement.
- Clearly communicate the groundbreaking nature of their research and its potential to advance the field.
- Navigate the ERC evaluation process – understand how proposals are assessed based on scientific excellence, impact, and investigator potential
- Analyze and discuss a successfully funded ERC proposal to gain practical insights into what makes a strong application

Outcomes: depending on your previous experience, you will be able to:
• Understand the legal framework underpinning EU funds
• Master costs eligibility, form of costs and budget categories category, including the difference between direct and indirect costs
• Ensure that your methodology for calculation of costs is correct
• Set up a reliable time recording system compliant with EC regulation
• Verify the compliance of your contracts (employment, subcontractors, third parties)
• Be prepared for a II° level audit, understanding what is expected from the beneficiary, and how to react in case of an audit
